Yin-Yoga
Yin Yoga is a meditative and reflexive yoga practice based on sitting or lying asanas, which are held for a long time. The concept of Yin Yoga consists of attitudes derived from traditional Hatha Yoga and supplemented with various influences from traditional Indian Yoga, Chinese Taoism, and Western science on body structure and function of the internal organs. With a Yin Yoga practice one strengthens the calm, passive side of a person and can thus compensate for the hectic, active everyday life. The focus here is on the deeper layers of the body such as connective tissue and fascia. These are often not achieved in dynamic yoga. The results of modern fascia research show that connective tissue, as long assumed, is not simply filling material, but plays an important role in our well-being. Recent findings show that the meridians run in the fascia and their harmonization through the long passive strains, as done in Yin Yoga, have a balancing and healing effect.
